Maggie Stannard
Artist's Biography

After my formal schooling I studied art at the Southend Municipal Art College, Basildon College and Castle Point and Rochford Adult Community College.
Over the years I have worked with a variety of artistic mediums including fabric and ceramics but over the past few years I have developed a love for working with watercolour. I was introduced to watercolour when my mother gave me a box of watercolour paints for my birthday. I enjoy attending art classes run by a local artist where I have been introduced to working with soft pastels, pastel pencils and acrylic paints. I certainly recommend attending classes, not just for what you learn from the tutor but working in the company of others helps you develop your skills by being inspired by the work of others.
The material for my paintings comes mostly from photographs that I have taken at home or when out on trips and on family holidays. It is great to work outdoors but it is not always a convenient location to set up your easel where the most inspirational views are found.
