NEXT EXHIBITION: End of August, Derwent Gallery, Grindleford, Derbyshire UPDATE: 13th June - New Landscape and Seascapes WANT TO LOOK at my paintings in real life. Checkout http://garbleart.co.uk for real galleries that stock my paintings BIOGRAPHY For most of my life I suppressed my creative urges. Having successfully pursued a career in a technical industry I felt that I could not longer carry on withholding my latent creative urges and a near fatal road accident late in 2005 was the catalyst for to me becoming a painter and now a sculptor as well. LANDSCAPES My landscapes are inspired by places, memories and emotions. My view of my local Derbyshire landscape is often stormy, rainy and indistinct. People, buildings and other details rarely feature in the work, as I prefer to allow the voices of hills, sea, rain and light to speak for themselves. I use the inspiration of my local Peak District location but my paintings are never literal reproductions or copies of the landscape. I do not not paint in situ and rejects the convention of painting in this traditional manner. As a result you will not find him trekking across the wilderness with a rucksack full of paints ! Instead I visit locations, wait, absorb the atmosphere and the rest comes later, from inside at the studio. If you have any questions please contact me using the Minigallery feature provided or email me at gareth @garbleart.co.uk (no space after "Gareth", this is to stop spam) I do hope that you find something that you like in the galleries that you'd like to add to your collection Regards G a r e t h All Images (c) copyright Gareth Buxton 2005-2007 |
