Vicky Mount
Artist's Biography

I started drawing with a biro forty years ago on my mothers' kitchen walls and in her cookery books. So Mum introduced me to paper, felt tipped pens, coloured pencils and poster paints. Eventually, at the age of twelve, Mum allowed me to paint a mural on our bathroom wall. It was a copy from a seaside postcard of a large lady in a bathing costume dancing along a beach. Looking back as a shy child, drawing and painting has always been a wonderful way to be able to express myself.
Later I studied illustration at Telford College here in Edinburgh and gained a Higher Diploma which led me on to study Graphic Design/illustration at Leeds Metropolitan University. After gaining my BA Hon's degree I worked for a number of years as a graphic designer and illustrator in Leeds before returning to my native Edinburgh. Here, I had my two daughters and continued to paint and work part-time. Eventually I returned to painting full-time on walls as a mural artist.
At present I work night shift but paint avidly every day.
