Sue Barsby
Artist's Biography

Born on a farm near Peterborough my early memories are of a very flat landscape, deep dykes and a constant breeze. My father worked on a farm and in hindsight this could be why I am always drawn to rural scenes.
Drawing and painting has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember and, when at the age of nine I lost my hearing temporarily, it became incredibly important. The visual world, with all of its colours and textures, seemed magnified and from that time on I looked at life from a slightly different angle.
From an early age I had never considered that I would choose any other area to work in other than Art, although I wasn't sure of what form that may take.
Encouraged to create, experiment and further my studies by enthusiastic parents, I studied Fine Art at York College of Art, Nottingham and Leeds Universities in the UK.
After university, where I gained a B.A. in Fine Art, I went into teaching where I stayed for 27 years!
Time flies!
My dream was always to become a Full Time Professional artist.
The dream eventually came true. I am delighted by the fact that my paintings are in Private collections around the world.
I have been commissioned by Daler Rowney for the 'How To' section in their 'The Art Paper', my work featured in Linda Barker's Column of the Daily Express Magazine.
