A little bit about me

Artist's Biography

After leaving school I went straight to Stafford Art College and did my National Diploma, a two year course which covered all disciplines of art, finally I specialised in Textiles and Ceramics, my love of colour and pattern expressed onto form.

I went on to be excepted onto the Higher National Diploma for Ceramic design at Staffordshire University, I then continued my studies with the Degree, finally gaining my Master Of Arts in ceramic design for production specialising in surface pattern design, and as an integral part of my course work experience was involved giving me a structured insight into commercial awareness of customers needs visually, the popularity of certain themes and images that sell better than others, meeting cutomers deadlines and requirements and above all having a lively imagination to fulfil the hungry need for something different in a very visually motivated industry. All my work has been successfully accepted into production ranging from collectable Teapots, everyday mugs, greetings cards, and wrap, to ranges of tableware for such companies as Royal Doulton, Churchill China, Just Mugs, Hudson& Middleton, Rayware,Marks & Spencer, Hallmark Cards.

The design issues I have been taught have helped me enormously with my professional career over the last seven years. I initially worked as an in house designer for both ceramic and greetings cards companies, before choosing to go freelance allowing me more freedom, self expression with my art, the variety of briefs and companies to work for, but more importantly the quality time to pursue my individual passion for creating my own paintings and cards. I feel without doubt this is my greatest love and I spend the majority of my time immersed in ink, involved totally with my own collections, choosing the theme, image, a personal reflection of what delights me now expressed through my paintings, with enthusiasm and a greater satisfaction, I feel more fulfilled as an artist, this is my niche, my life is about my art, and I hope to share this with others.
