Roz Edwards
Artist's Biography

I spent my childhood on Hayling Island. After A' levels I went to Southampton to do a B.Ed teaching degree, specialising in Art and Design. I also qualified in PE, but have taught less of that. I never liked being outdoors too much in the winter!! I am very much a summer person. I like to feel warm. Typical Leo I think!
My first teaching job was in Purton, near Swindon, where I was inspired by the beautiful villages of the Cotswold's. Most of my art work at this time was of Cotswold villages. I then moved to Hampshire and have taught in schools in the Reading and Basingstoke areas. My current teaching job is in northern Hampshire. Despite working all day as an Art and Photography teacher I still enjoy coming home to my own work! However, I have a dream of teaching part- time , in the future, to free up more time for my own work. I have lots of ideas, and usually have several paintings on the go at any one time. Often up to 10 paintings at some stage of completion.
I have had some of my paintings published as greetings cards. This is an area I want to work on again in the future. I also enjoy taking photographs, and producing creative images on Photoshop. A lot of ideas for my paintings come from "building" ideas on Photoshop.
I am married, and have two daughters. My eldest daughter is also very artistic and has just completed a degree in Fashion. She is now working as a knitwear designer. My youngest daughter is the sporty one, and is at uni doing Physiotherapy.
I currently have a selection of my paintings on display at the Strawberry Fish gallery in Hartley Wintney. I am planning to get my work in a lot more galleries in the near future. I just need the spare time to organize it all!!
I love to travel, and have been to many different countries. I take masses of photos each time. I particularly like tropical places because of the vibrant colours and plants. And the sunshine of course! Most of my paintings are inspired in some way by my travels. My fave places so far are India, Mexico, Singapore and Australia.
