I trained as a teacher and began painting seriously about 20+ years ago.

I have always been interested in painting and enjoyed it as a hobby. It has now become a full time job and one which I feel very privileged to enjoy so much. I have no formal art training beyond an O level and was positively discouraged form doing art at A level. However my artistic skills were very useful as a teacher of young children.

I left teaching in 1983 and began adult education classes in watercolour soon afterwards. After about 3 or 4 years the teacher for the class was leaving and the job was offered to me. I have never looked back and now teach several adult classes every week and the rest of my time is filled up with painting.

I exhibit frequently at venues in the north of England.Since having a range of prints and cards for sale through Claughton Images( www.claughtonimages.co.uk) my paintings have become more sought after and I am particularly well known for my watercolour flower portraits.

I shall be demonstrating watercolour painting and selling prints, cards and originals at Leeds Flower Show at Lawnswood School on Sat 2nd and Sun 3rd August.
