Rachel Hall
Artist's Biography

I started painting at a young age, my mother and grandfather are both artists and this really influenced me taking this career route.
After gaining GCSE and Alevel Art qualification in 1999 I attended West Wales School of the Arts, Carmarthen. Here I studied a BA hons in Textiles specialising in weaving. After leaving college I exhibited my degree work in various national exhibitions including two separate occasions at New Designers London, Candid arts summer graduate show London, and Welsh artist of the year Cardiff.
In 2005 I became a Fine Art lecturer. Firstly to earn money but also to pass on my skills as an artist.
This teaching experience really got me back to painting which I continue to enjoy. Since then I have been creating work mainly on a commission basis.
In 2006 I travelled to south Korea to teach English as a foreign language to children. This was an amazing experience. The culture being so different from western society, especially Wales, was a real eye opener. The smells, colours, tastes and sounds were a sensory overload at times, and I feel all of these experiences have really influenced my work.
I still enjoy lecturing part time but now feel its time for me to concentrate on, and exhibit my work on a more permanent basis, I hope this site will enable me to do so.
