About My Art

The Gower beaches in Swansea are a real influence in my work, inspiring adventurous colour, texture, shape, and atmosphere.
I work in a range of mediums, including acrylics, watercolours, and mixed media, and on a variety of surfaces. I would describe my style as contemporary, being neither completely traditional or abstract, but ranging somewhere between the two. I paint a range of subjects including flowers, seascapes, and landscapes. Since my travels to South Korea I have been influenced by more factors such as strong colours, changing landscapes and cultures, but my surrounding environment is always the key factor.
Being a Textile graduate has always had a positive effect on my paintings as I tend to instinctively think about colour, pattern, line, shape, and texture, all the basic design elements.
Teaching has also been a great influence in me continuing to paint. I get a lot of inspiration from seeing my students creating fantastic art work. It also encourages me to be more experimental with my work, using a variety of techniques, media, surfaces and subjects.
I have a wide range of paintings available which are not currently displayed on this site. Please contact me to view more of my work.
