When it comes time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.
Redhawk was an Oglala Sioux who fought with Crazy Horse against Custer at Little Big Horn aged just 15. He lived to attend the 50th Anniversary of the Battle in 1926.
Drawn with graphite pencils onto Bristol board, this intense portrait shows Redhawk as an older man, dressed in his war bonnet trimmed with ermine tails and white rabbit fur.
It will be sent bevel mounted and wrapped in cellophane ready for framing. It can be framed upon request, contact the artist for details.
