About My Art

I paint in watercolour, oils and acrylics; I also produce prints and cards. The maximum size for a giclee print is A3- 420 x 297 cm down to A4, on prepared paper, with an 8 cm cream mount. and these can be done to order.
I am not a painter of photo realism, but prefer watercolour washes and my own interpretation of the subject.
With my barge paintings, my inspiration came from watching the start of a barge match; early morning, golden mist dispersing, water smooth as glass, and the barges slowly moving off, who would not want to capture that moment?
I also paint landscapes, always trying to capture the light and the moment. The secret places, hidden corners of the English countryside, particularly Sussex, with it's white weatherboard cottages, and oast houses, However my paintings can at times be rather bleak, much depends on the subject, time of year, and how I see it at the time.
All my work is original, either painted in-situ or from photos taken by
myself. I have had a close association with boats and sailing, and used
regularly to see the barge matches, either starting out, or finishing up.
