About My Art

I have since my first memories loved art and in particular drawing. Whilst at University I started to use my PC with a graphics tablet to produce my work. I have found this technique allows me to establish and develop my drawing style.
My work is mostly concerned with figurative images. I've often gained inspiration from literature (as in the case of the work based around 'The Lord of the Flies') or more prominently film. My passion for movies manifests itself as cinematic viewpoints and lighting. Elements I employ to evoke mood and narrative.
My day job requires me to produce images on a wide variety of subject matter. One day I could be painting a series of images depicting the major religions for the RE department; the next it could be a landscape scenes illustrating erosion to go in Science.
I enjoy many mediums, including that of animation. I find the immediacy of charcoal or the accuracy of graphite very effective. Both of these and more can be replicated on the computer; however I intend to produce more work using 'real' media in the future; work which will at some point make an appearance in my mini gallery.
