I am a self taught artist based in Inverness, the 'Capital' of the Scottish Highlands. Most of my working life has been spent in clerical and administrative jobs, with my long standing love of painting and drawing being put on the back burner. Now however, I am devoting more time to painting, finding myself constantly inspired by the Highland Landscape.
My preferred media are soft pastel and watercolour. I enjoy the wonderful immediacy and freedom of pastel that works so well with a variety of subjects. The challenge of watercolour is a constant fascination, with the lovely intensity of colour and light it is possible to achieve with this medium, so suited to the beautiful landscape, powerful seas and weather of the Highlands. I am concentrating on developing my own style with both these media, experimenting with combining both, to uniquely describe the Highland landscape.
I am happy to accept commissions on a wide variety of subjects. I usually work from a combination of life and photographs. Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further information.
