Margaret Micklewright

Introduction from the artist
I spent my childhood on the beautiful Isle of Arran in Scotland, this probably explains why I love to paint landscapes. I completed a degree in Fine Art in the 1980's from Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen (nee McNab) but I have only recently been able to paint on a nearly full-time basis. Much of the work you see on my site is recent and a reflection of my jaunts to find new areas to explore. I also love horses and enjoy painting them too. I prefer to work in an exciting range of acrylic inks, but also oils and oil pastels.

I like to focus on several elements from a landscape, the light, the mood of the weather, reflective qualities, pattern and rhythm and use these rather than detail as the basis of the painting. With the horse paintings, I try to incorporate a feeling of the character and strength of the subject, brought about by a deep love and understanding of horses in general!

I welcome any enquiries/commissions you may have.

Prints and other items of my work are available, please ask.
