Louise Irish
Artist's Biography

I did an art foundation course many years ago, which lead me into working in the field of commercial photography for some years. I continued to attend life-drawing classes for some years before I had to abandon drawing and painting for more mundane pursuits. I have recently, within the last couple of years, returned to drawing and painting and am hugely enjoying re-discovering the creative process.
I am lucky to live in Manchester where there is a varied and wide-ranging number of art galleries, both in around the city and the north-west. I spend much of what spare time I have gazing at this wealth of art. It's a good way to learn. I admire the work of too many artists to list, but amongst my favourites are Graham Sutherland, Paul Nash, Samuel Palmer, Victoria Morton.
My life is definitely in transition. My children are at university, I divide the hours of my week between them, a full-time job, a new but already thriving business venture, writing and of course painting. The only thing that needs to go is the full-time job!
