Lou Partridge
Artist's Biography

I was born and grew up in Buckinghamshire, England. At school my favourite things were always creative and outdoor activities - painting, drawing, music and theatre, walking, visiting sites of historical interest, and travel. At VIth Form I studied Art, Theatre Studies and English at A level (winning the school art prize) and went on to study art, design and photography at MK College, gaining a Diploma in Art & Design. I then went to study at the University of Westminister and graduated with a degree in Illustration. Since leaving university I've also studied on a post grad. archaeological illustration course and mosaic making course.
After finishing education I've balanced full time work with working as a freelance painter, illustrator, photographer, designer and creative workshop leader; working for 7 years in the fine art and graphic supplies trade and for the last 10 years, in theatre management. This year I took the big step towards my goal of being a full time artist and now work part time, leaving me much more room for artwork in my busy life!
After university I spent 2 futher years living, working and exhibiting in London, and then moved to Sussex where I continued exhibiting and selling my artwork. There I met Abi Macleod-Clark and about 15 years ago I began working in partnership with Abi on theatre and display design projects under the name of Red Hen. 7 years ago we joined forces with 10 or so friends and formed Brighton based Red Hen Artists, under which umbrella we now exhibit and work on projects together.
I currently live in Sussex with my partner and my two cats.
