Julie Routley ARPS
Artist's Biography

I took up photography at the tender age of seven when I joined my primary school camera club. My first camera was a Kodak instamatic 126 and I remember my first picture was of a very sad looking 4 inch high snowman!
As I grew up I read every photography book I could lay my hands on and I came to understand and appreciate the real beauty and self expression that photography could offer.
It's hard to describe my style, art or photography but in the words of W. Eugene Smith "Hardening of the categories causes art disease" So all I would hope for is that you enjoy looking at my images and that maybe that they make you smile.
I attended Newport School of Art and Design in 1994, where I achieved an HND in documentary photography and was awarded the distinction of ARPS in 2007 (Associate of the Royal Photographic Society)
I have had exhibitions at the Watershed in Bristol, Photofusion Gallery in London and Coombe Farm studios in Dittisham, Devon and amongst other small shows and craft fairs I have for the last two years had two very successful shows at the Wharf Gallery, Tavistock, Devon.
Photography has always been my passion and obsession. If there is a special picture you are looking for but can’t see here please contact me I am always willing to undertake commissions and discuss individual requirements and have a large stock of images.
