Joe Cousin
 I am a British artist living in France having moved from Cornwall a couple of years ago. I guess my work comes under 'impressionism' on the whole. I love the idea of never telling the full story in a picture, keeping some of it in reserve to be released in small doses in the course of time. I love colour, I love uncertainty, I love the stuff of day dreams. I hope to convey some of these ideas each time I embark on a new painting.Often I work big. A large canvas of a square metre or more, provides impact. Working with interior design people in choosing what to put on which of the walls of, say, a show flat or house, a hotel reception area, has provided me with an invaluable insight into what impact is and how to manage it.  |
