George W Kitching
For many years a lot of my work has been based on commissions which have mainly been of family pets such as dogs, cats and horses, landscapes and some portrait work. Most of my inspiration comes from walking in the countryside with my wife and our two border collies, Bess and Mac. "Bess in Scotland" was painted following a very pleasant holiday up on the West Coast of Scotland, where Bess in particular enjoyed herself. I try to capture the different shades of light as it filters through trees or on water. "New Forest" is an example of this. I also try to show the many different colours as the seasons change from Summer to Autumn to Winter and to Spring when everything starts to wake up once more. I enjoyed painting "Forest Walk in Autumn" in all its splendid colours. In the last few months I have not had time to paint any new work as we moved house, leaving behind the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, to settle in a village in North Yorkshire not far from the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and Dalby Forest. I have set up a new studio which is almost complete, and I am looking forward to getting back to painting in my new surroundings. If you would like a painting of your favourite pet and have a good photograph, please contact me and we can discuss it. I hope you enjoy looking at my work. |
