David Snook
Artist's Biography

1960. Born in Cornwall on the border with Devon, in a rural farming community.
1965-1971.During primary school my life was transformed by discovering poster paints and large brushes. Each week we painted and the best were put on the wall--my first challenge.
Still studying the creative rather than maths and science, I achieved A levels in Art.
1971-1977.I spent 4 years at Cornwall Technical College, learning graphics, photography, figure drawing and airbrush, culminating in a number of diplomas and city and guilds qualifications.
1982-2003.I received an offer to work in South Africa for a publications company, and learned how to apply my art in real world surroundings.
After four years I set up my own illustration business and started to work from home on a commission basis. With the exception of a few changes, it was to prove very rewarding and the next twenty years I revelled in my artistic lifestyle as opposed to a nine-to-five scenario. During this time I met my wife and together decided to return to Cornwall in 2003. We have settled near my birthplace and it has reawakened all my childhood ideals and now in middle age I can convey and interpret them decisively. We now have a daughter who adds another dimension, and so studio time is even more precious. But the artwork keeps flowing and life gets more exciting.
