Artist's Biography
Art was always my biggest interest. When I left school I went to Leeds University to study for a degree in Fine Art. This course involved a lot of art history as well as the practical aspect. I had been inspired by a very young and trendy art teacher I had had at school, so I then went on to Brighton Poly for year's teacher training course. I taught in a large comprehensive school for several years but this meant that my own work had to be put on 'hold'. This situation continued as I brought up my four children. They are now old enough to take care of themselves (mostly) and this has allowed me the time and space to restart my art work.
Painting has become an increasing passion for me in recent years and it now takes up most of my time one way or another. I teach art for Dorset Adult Education and also take some private classes which are proving very popular. The courses are in drawing and painting, flower painting in watercolour, and I also take a group of adults with varying disabilities in a day centre; this has proved to be a challenge but has been extremely rewarding.
