Carole King
Artist's Biography

My parents first stimulated my need to create things by demonstrating their own skills and enjoyment they get from their own interests: not only the usual cooking, knitting and gardening but the more unusual ones:creating performing marionettes and building working steam engines. My own love of creative activities has since developed from childhood - through formal education and other opportunities - into fine art and installation, although I am still to be found driving one of my Dad’s engines when the opportunity arises.
I have a teaching qualification, an OU degree and Fine Art degree. I have previously established an art studio and workshop complex in Surrey and co-ordinated our local Open Studios art trail here in Wales.
Although I occasionally run printmaking workshops using a portable etching press and curate exhibitions (most recently 'Lines and Strata' at Theatr Mwldan, Cardigan) I am happiest when I can spend the working day in my studio, listening to the radio, music or the birdsong and creating my own work.
