About My Art

I am a watercolour artist. I paint landscapes or any scene which catches my eye. I am usually attracted to scenes with strong light and contrast and I like my watercolours to be strong. I am based in West Yorkshire and I like to walk on the Pennine moors in all weathers. I also do a lot of hiking in the countryside in the North of England/Scotland and I use my observations, photos and memories to recreate scenes or to produce paintings which express the essence, mood and atmosphere of a place.
All of my paintings are produced with top quality materials, creativity and a lot of energy. I do not paint realistic, photographic images as I prefer to paint loosely and with freedom. I experiment all the time and each of my paintings is, therefore, 100% unique.
I have sold many paintings at local and regional shows and have sold in the USA. I have entered the Leisure Painter/Artist magazine competition to exhibit at the very popular PATCHINGS FESTIVAL in Nottinghamshire. I have had some successes since 2005 and in 2007 I sold 2 paintings shown in the Artist category. In 2008 1 painting was 'highly commended' and is on the Patchings website. Next year (2009) I am hoping to exhibit work with Sheffield University Fine Art Society.
I am always interested to hear from other people who are interested in watercolour painting. Any galleries interested in my work please contact me - I am always keen to present my work in a quality environment.
