About My Art

Much of my painting is inspired by landscape and seascape and the ever changing colours they show. I try to convey mood, thoughts and a sense of spirituality in my work. It is always rewarding when people make their own interpretation of my paintings.
I use a range of media including acrylics and water colours. In some of my work I have used wax with acrylics to create interesting textural effects.
I have a flexible approach and as well as more representational work I also produce a range of abstract pieces on a variety of themes. I am happy to produce commissions on request.
Many of the pieces in my gallery are painted on box canvas with the edges painted as a continuation of the image so they are ready to hang.
I find many artists both living and dead an inspiration and for many different reasons. Examples include Patrick Heron for his use of colour, the work of the Surrealists, some of the small portraits by Raphael are like jewels and a current favourite is David Hancock particularly the Jane Says series.
